steven David Loj
For the past 3 years I’ve been working as a self-employed consultant in the photovoltaic industry. During this time, I have advised countless homeowners and real estate companies on their implementation.
In three words I would describe myself as inquisitive, solution-oriented, and dedicated.
Furthermore, I approach my tasks with passion and energy.
In my spare time I study various books on personal development, as I am eager to constantly improve myself.
Additionally, I also volunteer in a church’s youth ministry where I lead several teams.
Education
I completed my A-levels after 12 years at an evangelical school with an average grade of 2.0 in my hometown Bremen. During this time, I volunteered as a crossing guard for two years and represented the students as an elected representative of the pupils of a school.
In October 2018, I started my bachelor’s degree as a system engineer at the University of Bremen, which I finished in March 2022. As part of my studies, I specialized in automation technology and robotics through various projects. For example, my fellow students and I created a simulation software for the UR5 robot, whose self-collision detection and control software worked better than that of the manufacturer.
Furthermore, I completed an internship at the BMW Group from October 2021, where I was able to contribute to the further development of the „Robo-CT“, which makes it possible to examine very large components non-destructively by means of computed tomography.
I then wrote my thesis at the BMW Group with the title „Investigation and Quantification of the visibility of adhesive containing contrast agent in computed tomography“. I investigated the possibility of mixing a contrast agent into the industrial adhesive in various small quantities in order to increase its visibility in computed tomography.
work experience
To reduce the financial burden on my parents as early as possible, I began working as a waiter at Hans im Glück, when I was 16. My experience as a waiter developed my ability to speak confidently in front of people and to master difficult and stressful situations.
After my A-levels, I worked for three months in the logistics department at Daimler AG as a forklift operator, after which I interned for half a year at the Hoop Church in Bremen. Here I was able to plan and carry out projects independently with another intern.
In March 2019 I began working for the security service at Procertus GmbH, which I successfully balance with my academic study requirements.
In May 2019, I additionally began working at the German Research Center for Artificial Intelligence (DFKI) as a student assistant scientist. My focus was on supporting the integration of robotic systems. I also learned how to design CAD models using SolidWorks. However, due to the pandemic situation, the employment contracts for all student employees were not renewed when my contract expired in May 2020.w
Since September 2020, I have been working for Daimler AG as a student employee in production via Dekra AG.
Parallel to my studies, I began my self-employment as a consultant and sales representative in the photovoltaic industry in July 2021, which I further expanded after my studies. I learned a lot through numerous consulting and negotiation conversations. After quite some time, it also became my task to acquire and train further sales partners. For this purpose, I recorded my own training videos, written in typical conversation sequences and took individual salespeople in conversations with customers at my side.
Skills and interests
Programming languages that I have learned through various projects are: Java, C, C++, C# and Python.
In addition, I am familiar with the construction of CAD models using SolidWorks. I am also capable of operating various Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
Due to my participation in various courses, independent study of related literature and my voluntary activities as an area manager, I have developed capable leadership skills.
Through my volunteer activities, I rapidly integrated myself into teams and obtained leadership roles. I learned to organize myself and others, to work with a limited budget, and to react quickly and effectively to unexpected situations. Furthermore I am actively developing my ability to inspire people and help them with their personal development. I find this ability is especially important as a leader of volunteers, as they are not in it for the pay, but for the vision.
I have also held a Class B driver’s license for the past eight years.
Volunteer
Since I felt it was important early in my life to make a difference in society, I began my first volunteer position at the age of 12 as a crossing guard at my school.
A year later, I began working in childcare at my church, which eventually resulted in a leadership position. There I was able to be a part of some children’s lives for five amazing years.
I also learned a lot by always helping out in different areas of my church, in areas such as stagecraft and photography.
Furthermore, I trained 5-13 year old kids in the Taekwondo department of my club for two years. After that, I was asked to be a soccer coach for a team of SV Werder Bremen. Through this I coached the F-youth for one year.
For the past three years, I have been working as a volunteer leader in the youth ministry of my church. Within the youth ministry, I lead the area known as “Events”. This includes the organization and management of different teams, which are responsible for the setup, catering, but also for the welcoming and order processes – just to name a few examples. When I handed over my volunteer position, due to my move to Munich, it had over 220 visitors.
Most recently, I was able to take responsibility for the safety of the event at the conference „Unum24“ with over 6500 visitors in the Olympiahalle Munich. I was responsible for the coordination of over 230 employees and the contact person for the Olympiahalle and the police.
More Information
I have always been very enthusiastic about various sports, which is why I was able to achieve some success there. For example, I won several medals for my school in a variety of athletics competitions. Furthermore, I achieved the first place in the international North German Championship in Taekwondo at my first tournament in 2015.
Another passion of mine is to constantly expand my knowledge by using a variety of media such as books, podcasts and videos. I am especially interested in the topics of interpersonal interaction, leadership and finance.
After my Hoop internship ended in February 2018, I embarked on an exciting and interesting journey on my own, which mainly took me through Southeast Asia and Australia. It started in London and took me to Phuket, Singapore, Bali, Lombock, Gili Air, Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Kuala Lumpur. I was able to get to know many different cultures as well as strengthen my English skills.
